Copy pasta my comment from another thread here too:
I want a character selection screen as a tool to get a quick glance at all the important stuff for my characters. The new screen is an improvement at that. Though it would have been even better, if there was a list on the left, with the same info the new one has now (or rather including the stuff that is to be added in the new build). Clicking on one of the infoboxes would then reveal either a picture or a fully animated character within a square portion of the screen. So 9x9 for the portrait or the animation and 7x3 for each infobox of the character stacked ontop each other. This would also add the benefit to see ones own characterportrait in full glory in the game at least once.
Edit: Also having the Corp and Alliance Logos not in the picture would definitively be an improvement. . |

Well I am happy the loop is gone. It was running on HUGE framerates and killed my graphics. Even the game on full settings runs cooler. . |

While I concur that EVE Online needs a clean break from features unasked for, the character selection screen can be improved to show actually important infos and improve the game for me. For example who the hell needs to know on login, which school the character attended? Though I do think there is much more important stuff like a POS revamp (why add art assets for those deployable thingies, if the time could have been spent on POSes?), rights-management revamp and much more the community has begged for since I started playing.
If the new selection screen would be made perfect (see my and other suggestions above) I could live with the time spent. But again CCP just pulled up a version they thought was cool, instead of showing us prototypes to base the discussion on. I fear now it is too late for any such dramatic changes within the scope for example I proposed, when they could have delivered a much better product from the start. . |

Just to be clear, that's 1 click to select the character, and 1 more click on them to enter. (Double click still functions as well) We won't be removing the 'Enter EVE' (or as it should be: 'Enter New Eden') button though.

By the way, I find it quite unintuitive how the eve client handles the skillqueue representation within the Neocom. Can we have it do the same as the skillqueue window? Or more importantly - if not additionally - please make sure that any graphical representation (yes, there should be one) in the selection screen works the same way the skillqueue window does it. . |

Can you please leave the promotions to the launcher?! That is part of why you have one, no?! No promotions in the selection screen. This is where all the important information should be only! You already have enough places to have your plex ads... . |

I agree that the skillqueue still needs changing.
The corp and alliance name shows on mouse-over (arguably with too much delay).
I find the faction to be a useless info in the scope of what the login screen does... and how irrelevant it is for game-(non-role-) play in EVE, then again if you roleplay, you know your stuff by heart. Sec status is only in the category of nice to know. But since it is no pertinent information on deciding which character to login with, I would actually argue that it should not be there (also it does not change while you are offline). News fall into the same category and should be reserved for the launcher. I actually like news to be out-of-client content, while world news should be presented entirely different out of the scope of CCP karkur's team for now.
A request for CCP karkur:
Can you please release a screenshot with every single item of the login screen shown, some are case sensitive so I cannot see all of them. Would be nice to get a good overview of how stuff is implemented.  Or better yet emulate it on SiSi as if every item was relevant to us (e.g. give us a Tritanium to redeem and so on). . |
